27 disputed business establishments in Kargil

KARGIL, September 25: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, a team from the district administration conducted an intensive market inspection in Kargil town and neighboring areas and indicted 27 food establishments for violating provisions of the FSSA and the Essential Commodities Act.
The team led by Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Salim Wazir and composed of members of the enforcement wing of the Ministry of Food, Civilian Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Kargil and the Municipal Committee (MC) Kargil a made a surprise visit to different commercial establishments dealing with vegetables, mutton, chicken, etc. to check the quality and prices of the products.
During the inspection, the team thoroughly checked over 50 commercial establishments, of which 27 establishments were penalized on-site for violating the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006 and the Food Standards Act (FSSA), 2006. essential products (ECA).
A total fine of Rs 11,700 was imposed on the defaulters. In addition, an adequate quantity of edible items and stale vegetables was seized and destroyed on site.
The market inspection team also took stock of the hygienic conditions of food products available on the market, prices and other established standards.
The team advised traders and traders to display the price list prominently in their establishments in addition to maintaining cleanliness.
Meanwhile, Kargil District Magistrate called on all traders to ensure compliance with established standards and warned against harsh measures against rule breakers.
