In an order issued Sunday under section 34 of the 2005 Disaster Management Act, DC District Disaster Management Authority Barnali Sharma said that “the novel coronavirus (COVID- 19) is a potential threat to human life “.
Sharma said that “measures are being taken by the District Disaster Management Authority to raise awareness among the general public and to contain the entry / spread of the virus in the district.”
âAll commercial establishments and businesses (excluding basic necessities) in the Cachar district will remain closedâ from 6 am on March 23, 2020 to 9 pm on March 24, 2020, specifies the decree.
“All shopping malls, including the Goldighi Municipal Mall throughout the Cachar district, will remain closed” as of March 23, 2020 and until further notice, Cachar DC said in the order.
According to the decree, “all weekly markets in the district of Cachar will remain closed” from March 23, 2020, until further notice.
The Deputy Commissioner also ordered the closure of all fish / meat markets (including sale in open markets as well as designated markets) throughout the Cachar district from March 23, 2020, until further notice. .
“In the event of failure to comply with the above instructions, measures will be taken in accordance with Article 51 of the Disaster Management Act 2005. This ordinance comes into force with immediate effect,” the ordinance said.
