Cut: All stores and commercial establishments throughout the town of Cuttack will close their shutters from 2 p.m. daily starting May 3. This will continue for 15 days until May 18.

The development came after the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) approved the recommendation of the merchant associations for restricted hours of operation of stores and commercial establishments.

As a result, all stores and other commercial establishments in the city will remain open until 2 p.m. daily from May 3 to 18. After that, only stores for medicines and other essential services will be allowed to operate.

Given the sharp increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the city over the past two days, various business associations have handed the proposal to the CMC and the latter welcomed the decision, said CMC commissioner Ananya Das. , at Sambad English. .

On April 28, the director of health services, Bijay Mahapatra, warned that the community transmission situation had arisen in the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Yesterday, the city reported 286 new cases, 137 of which were local contact cases.
