FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) – Calls to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) report impersonators are going door-to-door misrepresenting a Marion landscaping company.

Ronnie Havens of Pro Cuts Tree Care & Landscaping reported that he does not provide service in the Fort Wayne area. However, consumers have said that people claiming to belong to Pro Cuts come to their homes to offer tree and landscaping services at a discounted rate. Individuals then take money from consumers and leave without completing the job as promised. They are also not allowed to spray chemicals, although that is a service they offer, according to a press release from BBB.

Imitators are said to be driving a white truck with no company logo or stickers. Reports indicated that imitators use high-pressure sales tactics and that the estimates provided to customers bear the company name. Equipment is reportedly scarce and imitators operate without safety glasses, hard hats, ID badges and business cards.

One of the “representatives” said he usually does not take money up front but needs $ 300 and leaves his equipment at home overnight to make sure that ‘he would be back the next morning. The consumer did not have $ 300 with her and the “representative” insisted that she go to an ATM. The consumer withdrew $ 200 and the “representative” started asking her husband’s whereabouts.

If someone comes to your door to provide a service, the BBB reminds consumers to know who they are dealing with. View the company’s commercial profile on Northern Indiana BBB.
