The Meridian Chamber of Commerce and the Meridian Downtown Business Association (MDBA) have merged and will create a new Meridian Downtown committee.
The new chamber standing committee will focus on the city center and provide funds to the MDBA.
âWe look forward to working with the Meridian Downtown business community and working to bring more events and activities to Meridian,â said Sean Evans, President and CEO of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, in the press release.
The Meridian Downton Business Association is a team of community volunteers who âpromote the economic and cultural vitalityâ of the downtown area. The press release said the group needed more “sustainable” funding and “operational support” and the Meridian Chamber of Commerce can provide that.

The MDBA assembled a transition team to work with the chamber and later the board voted unanimously to join the chamber. This means that the MDBA holds voting seats for the Meridian Downtown Committee of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce. MBA members will now support the membership level for one year at the chamber, those of the MBA who were already members will receive a credit to their account to use for renewal or events.
The next Meridian Downtown committee meeting will be held at unBound on July 23 at 8:30 am. You can also subscribe to the committee’s newsletter here.
