Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): In protest against the Government of India (GoI) for its silence on the framework agreement even after 6 years, the NSCN (IM) called for a “total closure of stores and commercial establishments in Nagalim” from 12 noon to from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. on August 3.
The Framework Agreement (FA) which was signed on August 3, 2015 between the GoI and the NSCN (IM) has yet to materialize as promised by the GoI, the NSCN (IM) said in a statement from press published by its MIP on Sunday.
Six years later, there is still no positive response from GoI, he said, adding that “the Nagas cannot be taken for a ride in this way. “
While appreciating the GoI for recognizing the historical and political rights of the Nagas by signing the FA, the NSCN (IM) said the matter should not end there. “What had been done should be led to a logical conclusion,” he said.
Calling for the total closure of all stores and commercial establishments in the state on August 3, the NSCN (IM) called on the Naga people, the public and business groups to show solidarity with the framework agreement and a asked for cooperation for “the success of the closure down.”
He also urged the regional authorities of the NSCN and civil society organizations (CSOs) to extend their cooperation on this matter.
