A new board of directors for the San Juan Business Association (SJBA) headed by Jason Roach will serve for next year.
The 17-member board was virtually elected at the Association’s annual general meeting last Monday.
The new directors are:

Kishal Basdeo – Membership Affairs
Neela Rambharose – Networking and Events Coordinator
Joash Kissoon – Assistant Treasurer
Vivianna Kelly – Assistant Secretary
Albertha Purdeen – Public Relations Assistant
Anand Ali – Community Affairs Assistant
Imtiaz Ali – Trustee
Esaü Hosein – Administrator
The newly elected president acknowledged the extremely difficult environment members face during the pandemic and promised to adhere to the new bylaw amendments voted by members at the AGM.
These changes include the appointment of directors to leadership positions by the executive and the creation of new leadership positions in research and development, community affairs, member affairs, and networking and events.
He also thanked the former Board of Directors for their successful vaccination campaign which was carried out in partnership with TTMA.
Roach is committed to focusing on the areas of efficiency, transparency and accountability, communication, new member attraction and strategic planning.
Along with his vast experience and expertise, the new roster will bring fresh perspectives to help navigate an uncertain retail landscape in the years to come.
The SJBA has divided its geographic area into eight districts with directors having direct responsibility for the affairs of each district.
This should further improve the quality of service to members by essentially making all directors de facto directors of members. The districts and their representatives are:
Eastern Main Road – East: Vivianna Kelly and Emerson John Charles
Eastern Main Road —West: Neela Rambharose, Kishal Basdeo and Michelle Campo-Aimable
Barataria: Michael Jogee and Joash Kissoon
Saddle route: Abrahim Ali
Aranquez North: Anand Ali
Aranquez South: Albertha Purdeen and Shivan Bhaggan
El Socorro Nord: Michael Maharaj and Saleem Mohammed
El Socorro Sud: Steve Atwaroo and Jason Roach
