GREENFIELD – In an effort to educate employers and job seekers in the area about the local resources available, the Greenfield Business Association is hosting a forum to better familiarize the community with the MassHire Franklin Hampshire Career Center.

“I’ve known MassHire for some time, and I know the resources they provide to employers and businesses, as well as employees, and I consider them to be underutilized,” said Rachel Roberts, coordinator of Greenfield Business. Association. “At one point, (Executive Director Maura Geary) and I were having a conversation about how we could get people to know more about these things… when employment right now is such a struggle.”

Geary will join MassHire Lead Business Service Representative Penni Menard on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for an employment status presentation. According to a press release from the Greenfield Business Association, Geary and Menard will talk about unemployment, industry and demographics, as well as strategies to help employers recover and build a successful future for people and businesses. of the region.

The public will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

“The market has changed,” Roberts explained. “Employers are trying to fill positions and employees are looking for additional opportunities. New employees need to find new ways to apply and employers need to find new ways to advertise. »

Roberts said she hopes the event – ​​which is the result of the merger of a forum previously scheduled for April and specifically aimed at employers – will serve as a reminder to employers and job seekers of the resources that are already available to them. .

“We are wondering how best to benefit Greenfield businesses,” she said. “It’s already a resource that already exists; teaming up with Maura and her team was really a no-brainer for us straight away.”
